Why Releasing the Body Helps Everything Else Soften

We tend to think of stress as something that lives in our minds — a difficult conversation, a demanding job, a packed schedule. But stress doesn’t stay neatly contained there. It settles into the body.

That tension with your boss might show up as tight shoulders.

Emotional overwhelm can affect digestion.

Mental overload can leave you feeling heavy, guarded, or disconnected.

Our bodies hold experiences on every level — physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and energetic. And when we create space in the body, that release has a ripple effect.

This is why twisting yoga postures are so powerful.

Twists gently compress and release the organs, support digestion, and help wring out physical tension. AND they also invite a deeper kind of letting go. When paired with slow, intentional breathing — especially long exhales — twists send a signal of safety to the nervous system.

You’re not forcing anything out.

You’re allowing things to move.

In this yoga practice, we focus on twisting from a place of awareness and ease. The breath becomes an anchor, guiding the release and reminding the body that it’s safe to soften.

As the body lets go, the mind often follows. Emotions feel less sticky. Energy begins to circulate more freely.

This is the quiet magic of yoga — when physical release opens the door to mental clarity and emotional ease.

You don’t have to analyze what you’re holding or why.

Just show up, breathe, twist, and let the release trickle outward.

Sometimes, letting go doesn’t require effort — just permission.
