So how’s your Savasana?

Savasana is the last pose we do in a Yoga practice – when we lay down and completely let go.

It is arguably the most important pose in Yoga. This pose helps our body “adapt” to the good things our practice did for us, it resets the nervous system and really caps off our practice in a powerful way.

BUT, it is so not easy to just “relax”!

Even after a Yoga practice, you may find your mind wanders, you still hold tension in your body, you just can’t let go completely.

And it’s in the letting go completely that the real benefits of Savasana come in – when you get to that place that you know isn’t sleep but you still aren’t fully conscious.

Actually, there are three levels of Savasana:

  1. Letting your physical body relax – when you finally really sink.
  2. Pulling your senses inward – when you are not longer distracted by the sounds around you.
  3. Ashunya – a deeply relaxed state that you can only identify when you come back.

30 years of Yoga and I still struggle with Savasana. I get to the 3rd stage maybe one out of every ten.

If you are like me, you need to stack the deck in your favor.

In this week’s video, I share four tips to making your Savasana more relaxing.

Let me know which one is your favorite!
