💗 Letting Go of the Wired 💗

So you can sleep…

.

Have you ever climbed into bed completely exhausted and wondered why you still couldn’t relax?

Your body is tired.

Your mind is tired.

You know you need sleep.

But somehow you can’t quite settle.

You toss and turn. Your thoughts keep looping. Your shoulders feel like they’re still carrying the day. Maybe your jaw is tight. Maybe your hips ache. Maybe you don’t even notice the tension anymore because it’s become so familiar.

Many women assume this means they’re doing something wrong.

Maybe they need a better nighttime routine. (Ok, this could definitely be true!)

Maybe they need more willpower.

Maybe they need to stop thinking so much. (Yes, thank you, but HOW???)

But what if that’s not the real issue?

One of the things I’ve observed over decades of teaching yoga is that stress doesn’t simply live in our thoughts.

It lives in our bodies.

The rushing.

The multitasking.

The constant decision-making.

The emotional labor.

The invisible responsibilities.

They all leave traces behind.

Our body remembers.

And, over time, we become so accustomed to carrying tension that we stop noticing it’s there.

Until bedtime arrives.

Then suddenly we’re confronted with the fact that our bodies never fully received the message that the day is over. BUT you can still feel tired so you might be fooled into thinking you are relaxed.

This is one reason so many women find themselves caught in the frustrating cycle of feeling tired but wired.

Exhausted but unable to rest. Wanting sleep but unable to soften.

The good news is that sometimes you don’t need a complicated solution.

Sometimes you simply need a way to release the top layer of tension you’ve been carrying all day.

That’s exactly what today’s short yoga practice is designed to help you explore.

Before you write off your sleeplessness as “just stress,” consider this: How much tension are you carrying right now that you haven’t even noticed?
