Blankets, blocks, straps, bolsters, oh my!
To prop or not to prop, that has been the question for years!
Some lineages of Yoga swear by them, others eschew them entirely and everything in between.
In this post, I share what I think from 30 years of Yoga teaching experience.
Here it is in a nutshell: It depends. Everyone is different and you have to decide if you need them for the poses you choose to do AND based on the challenges you have in your body.
I have super tight hamstrings. (Ok, I should add a disclaimer, for an average individual, my hamstrings are pretty flexy. But for someone who has practiced Yoga for 30 years, not so much.) I am so grateful for the props because they help me get into poses I never would have been able to approach.
At the same time, I do understand why some people don’t like them.
Let me know what you think!
