I have been actively manifesting and coaching manifesting topics for over 15 years. I started when I was 40 years old and 90% of my clients have been middle aged women.

A few years ago I noticed similar themes kept popping up with my clients (and me). I didn’t see these same things being addressed by other manifesting coaches, especially men and tweny-something women.

I realized these issues really were unique to our generation: GenX, Baby Boomers and early Millennials. 

There are certain lessons we learned through how we were raised and how society saw us that we need to overcome to manifest well.

Midlife is not a decline—it’s your reclaiming. With decades of wisdom behind you, an emptier calendar ahead, and energy still flowing in your veins—you stand at a powerful crossroads. Yet, many midlife women tell me they feel stuck, sidelined, or like manifesting doesn’t seem to work for them like it does for other people.

That’s because manifesting as GenXers, Baby Boomers, and early Millennials comes with its own layered challenges: decades of selflessness baked into your identity, unresolved beliefs, conditioned perfectionism, and infinite to-do lists that drain your energy before you greet the day.

🌟 Step +1: Radical Self-Care

Self-care isn’t a luxury—it’s a necessity for manifesting.

Why it matters: Your nervous system needs to feel safe enough to receive. Without consistent care, energy is constantly spent on survival, leaving little for your dreams.

Issue for women in midlife:

We weren’t taught to take great care of ourselves. We had to put others in front of ourselves, including our task list. The list has to be done before you can do anything for yourself. Everyone’s needs are filled before we can think or our own (That is if we are even aware of our needs.) We run on empty for days, weeks, even years.

Our sense of worth is tied to doing—for others, ticking boxes, and pushing through exhaustion. Let’s dismantle that.

Self-care is a necessity not a luxury.

We need proactive and radical self-care – having a system in place to take care of ourselves before we NEED it – proactive rather than reactive. 

What do we need to do?

  1. Rewrite your self-care story: Write down what you were taught about self-care, what was demonstrated. And then rewrite it to be the story you really want!

  2. Build a system: Start now with a quick daily exercise. Something easy you can do for yourself that helps you feel better. Just start here and start simply.

🌟 Step 1: Know what you REALLY want:

I’ve never met a group of people that is harder to help find a big vision than women in midlife. It is rare to find someone who has a truly big dream for themselves. They constantly put family needs in front of theirs, downplay their awesomeness, and feel it’s some version of of “too late”.

You have to begin to tap into your deeper dreams that thing you really want that lights you up that gets you excited. And then trust that whatever that is is the best thing for your family, too. Show your children the power of having a dream that you’re going for that gets you excited and lit up.

Getting clear on what you want is crucial for manifesting.

You can’t manifest what you haven’t dreamed.

Clarity transforms vague desire into a guided compass. It stops your energy from scattering—and puts you on a path.

Issue for women in midlife:

What I’ve already mentioned above AND we weren’t taught to dream for OURSELVES, letting us dream for something we really, really, REALLY want. So many fears of ambition, “what will others think”, or “only I’m allowed to dream if it’s small.”

What do we need to do?

It’s time to dream. Even if you have a dream, I guarantee it’s not big enough. Honestly, this is true for everyone but it is doubly true for women in midlife. It doesn’t mean your dream has to be inspiring millions of people, that’s where people get stuck.

A Big Dream just has to get you really lit. As in, incredibly excited! Most people get to 5% more than what they have and think that’s great, but it doesn’t light them up.

[Side Note: Seeing someone’s eyes light up or hearing it in their voice when they really get this and tap into their dream. It’s the best!]

Spend your vision week dreaming. Give yourself a couple of sessions when you’re. Really relaxed and feeling inspired. Hot bath, quiet evenings or an afternoon by yourself in a coffee shop, a glass of wine. Let yourself think about what it is. You really want what would feel really really good for you?

🌟 Step 2:   Believe It Is Possible for YOU

Belief turns dreams into magnetism.

Manifesting isn’t just wishing—it’s needing your nervous system to trust that your dream is feasible—and deserved.

Issue for women in midlife:

Yep, believing in ourselves is a bit tricky. We have to work on dislodging societal beliefs about what women are truly capable of doing.

Deep conditioning over decades of messaging: “Too old,” “not ambitious,” “just be realistic.” Even if logic says it works—you simply don’t feel entitled.

Believing in ourselves is not something that comes easily. I was raised by parents who encouraged me to go for my dreams and I still struggle. The message is baked into our society and our DNA.

Understand beliefs are merely opinions you’ve helped for a very long time. That’s it. They can change. Our challenge is overcoming decades of playing that same message in our brain.

 

What do we need to do?

  1. Start to notice your “yeah buts”: “Yeah but… I don’t have [time/money/support]. “Yeah but” is a hallmark of a limiting belief. Think about where you first learned this message. You may be able to trace them to their origin. I find sometimes that origin story is all it takes to let an old belief go.
  2. Affirmations: Affirmations 100% work! BUT you have to do them well. Find a statement that counters your limiting belief and stated it boldly while standing tall. It’s powerful.

(There are many ways to dislodge beliefs. This is a good start!)

🌟 Step 3:   Right Action

You have to do something. 

Manifestation needs action—but it has to be aligned, not overwhelming.

Issue for women in midlife:

I think the biggest things I see here that plagues women in midlife are three things. :

1. That constant message: “I don’t have time.”

2. Thinking only big action steps “count” – oh, and it has to be PERFECT!

3. The action needs to come from inspiration: Meaning you have to take slow down and take time to let yourself be inspired.

What do we need to do?

While it depends on the “action” issue that might be holding you back, but I’m guessing time is a big one.

1. This week pay attention to how you spend your time. I absolutely guarantee there are pockets of time that you don’t use well. You can find 15 minute intervals where you can sneak in action steps to take you to your dreams. (And you’ll probably find a few hours each week!)

2. Create a list of tasks that just take 15 minutes. Use this list in those pockets of time.

Just doing something will help you feel so much better!

🌟 Step 4:   Have Faith

Ya gotta have faith in this process.

You don’t have to do it all alone.

Trying to control every outcome causes burnout and resistance. Surrender calls in co-creation.

When you truly have faith, this process becomes fun!

 

Issue for women in midlife:

What I see with women in our generation is a feeling that we have to do everything, control everything, and we only deserve things we have truly worked hard for. (Or is that just me??)

BUT the key to manifesting is realizing we’re not alone. We have an entire Universe there to support us AND we deserve so much more than we are allowing in!

What we need to do:

We need to relax, trust, and allow. This is where Yoga & Essential Oils comes in so handy! Since this step is more about NOT doing, Yoga and the oils help us to let go to surrender.

🌟 Step 5: Gratitude

The ultimate energy of manifesting and being in the energy of receiving is gratitude.

But here’s the thing, it’s actually living in energy of gratitude.

Our generation is a generation worriers and stress. 🙂  When you ask a woman in his life, they’re grateful for their lives, they tend to jump in with an “of course” and they are if they stop and think about it. But they aren’t living in gratitude. It’s not their go to emotion the go to is more around worry and stress.

 

Issue for women in midlife:

We grew up in anxious generations. Gratitude is something we think, not feel. A checkbox.

We have to retrain our brains to find the silver linings – because they are there!

What we need to do:

  1. Gratitude journey: morning + evening, say 5 things you love – Write them down or day them out loud. THEN

  2. Emotional metabolizing: write why, not just what, so you feel the gratitude. FEEL the expansion of your heart.

  3. Check-in: what did the Universe bring you today? My husband and I used to do this one with our kids before bed. “What was your favorite thing for today?” We now do it with each other.

Then: live from that frequency. And this is the key! Begin to let gratitude be your go to energy!
