What if “failure” is simply practice?
I know, I know, this is my hot button. Failure is a word I just simply don’t like so when it comes up in my world, I figure it is time for another Musing on it. This week’s Feel Good Moment inspired me, too.
What if the “failure” you experience in your life is truly just practice? Like a child learning to walk. When she falls, do you think, “Well, that’s it. She’ll never walk. Sheesh, what a failure!” Or do you think, “Awww, isn’t that sweet! She is getting stronger! She’ll walk in no time.”
Translate that to your life. You write a blog post and no one wants to publish it – it’s just practice! You speak in front of a group of people and they don’t enjoy your topic – it’s just practice! You make a new recipe and it doesn’t taste good – it’s just practice! You fall out of handstand — it is just practice. You are getting stronger.
So, instead of “keep going” or “keep trying”, how about: Keep practicing!
