💗 Release Where You Hold It 💗

A Yoga Practice for Shoulders, Hips, and Deep Relaxation

If you’ve been feeling tense, overwhelmed, or like you can’t fully relax anymore, it’s probably not just “in your head.”

Your body is holding it.

Two of the most common places we store stress — especially in midlife — are the shoulders and the hips. The shoulders often carry responsibility, pressure, and the feeling of “I have to hold everything together.” The hips, on the other hand, are deeply connected to emotion, safety, and stored stress. They’re also an energetic center for creativity and movement forward.

When these areas are tight, it’s not just uncomfortable — it can keep your entire nervous system on high alert.

That’s why releasing both the shoulders and hips together can be so powerful.

In my latest 30-minute yoga practice, I created a slow, grounding flow designed to gently open these areas without forcing or pushing. This isn’t about stretching deeper or working harder. It’s about giving your body permission to soften and letting your nervous system downshift.

When you release the shoulders, you send the message:

“I don’t have to carry everything right now.”

When you release the hips, you send the message:

“I’m safe to let go.”

Together, the effect is magnified. Breath deepens. The mind quiets. The body feels supported instead of braced.

This practice is especially supportive if you:

• Feel tight even when you’re resting

• Have trouble fully relaxing

• Carry stress in your upper body or low back

• Are navigating burnout, perimenopause, or emotional overload

Throughout the practice, we move slowly, stay connected to the breath, and focus on creating a sense of safety in the body — because true relaxation doesn’t happen when we force it. It happens when the body feels safe enough to release.

If you’ve been craving relief — not just from physical tension, but from that constant feeling of holding on — this practice is for you.

Let this be your reminder: you don’t need to push through everything. Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is soften, breathe, and let your body help you let go.

With love & soft exhales,

Laura
