Try This Gentle Yoga Flow to Release Stiff Hips

Do your hips feel stiff when you stand up after sitting for a while? Maybe your lower back feels tight, your stride is shorter than it used to be, or certain yoga poses just don’t feel comfortable anymore. You’re not alone.

Our hips can become tight for many reasons. Long hours of sitting, stress, repetitive movement, strength training, and simply moving through everyday life can all contribute to tension in the muscles surrounding the hips. The good news? You don’t need an intense stretching routine to start feeling better.

In this gentle yoga flow, I’ll guide you through learning more about your own hip tension, sharing  movements designed to increase mobility, release tension, and help you reconnect with your body. Along the way, I also include a short tutorial with tips for proper alignment and simple modifications, making this practice approachable whether you’re brand new to yoga or returning after some time away.

Remember, yoga isn’t about forcing your body into the deepest stretch possible. It’s about moving with awareness, breathing deeply, and creating space over time. Consistency is much more effective than intensity when it comes to improving flexibility and mobility.

If you’re in midlife, this is especially important. Our bodies naturally change over time, but stiffness doesn’t have to become your “new normal.” Gentle, regular movement can help you feel stronger, more mobile, and more comfortable in your everyday activities.

So grab your mat, move at your own pace, and let your breath guide you. Even a few minutes of intentional movement can make a noticeable difference.
