Young Living Business Inspiration: Goal Setting for Success

What’s the importance of passion in your life

Goal Setting for Your Young Living Business

Goal setting is a fabulous way to get you where you want to go.  One of the reasons I love goal setting is it gives you two things:

  • Opportunity: It gives you the opportunity to think about what it is you are doing and why.  Where do you want to go with your business?  How fast do you want to get there? Connect it with your why of your business.  It is so easy to take life at the status quo — just keep doing what you do every day, and just keep going.  I am sure we have all had that uncomfortable feeling of waking up one day in a place we didn’t plan to go, whether it is in our body, a financial situation, our marriage, or job.  Goal setting is the opportunity to sit down, take stock, and figure out what you want.
  • A Focus: When we set goals, it gives us a focus.  Our goals should clear a path for our actions steps.

At the end of every month, do these things:

  • Reflect on the month you are finishing:  Did you reach your goals?  If yes, great!  If not, reflect, without judgment.  I know, tricky, but absolutely necessary.  Were the goals too big?  Did you not plan enough action?  Why did you not reach them?  Learn so you can set smarter goals next time.  Maybe you reached your goals but it was exhausting and you need slower month to recoup.  Then recoup!  Set smaller goals, take a breather, and launch again the next month.
  • Decide what you need to do the next month:  Hopefully you have your larger strategy set so you know where you need to focus this next month.  While we are always doing three things: Enrolling, PPP calls, and finding our Biz Builders, you might need a specialized focus for the month.  Here are a few thoughts:
  1. If you are just beginning, your focus is always enroll, enroll, enroll.  Get people on your team and keep a lookout for your biz builders.
  2. If you are focused on rank advancement this month, what do you need to get it?  Are your biz builders on board with you? What can you do to incentivize/inspire them? (I like to do personalized gifts — something just for them — not the same gift for everyone.)
  3. Maybe you have a few new people and you need to put attention on getting people on ER.
  4. Do you have a large team and you need to improve your OGV? So educational focus is necessary.
  • Schedule your action: What do you need to do to create what you want?  What action do you need to take?  Look at it honestly.  If you don’t know already, you will soon, how many people you need to invite to an event in order for you to get a certain number of sign ups.  Is it more than you can do?  Do you need to make a smaller goal?  Or is the goal worth it for an all-out effort for one month?
  • Tell your upline sponsor: Get support from your sponsor.  Let him/her know what you need and want to do and how they can help you!

Forms for you:

GoalSettingYL-Year  Here is a form to plan your year out.  If you still aren’t sure what is possible, that’s okay!  Guess!  I wrote my first one in pencil so I could alter as I went.  The benefit was, I took the time to think about what I wanted.

GoalSettingYL-Month:  Here is a form for each month.  Refer to the annual plan and then set your next month’s plan accordingly.
