I have three thoughts I want to convey here. Let me get them out and then I will chat about each one:

Manifesting is not about the stuff – although there is nothing wrong with the stuff!

You need to embrace your desires – whatever they are no matter how superficial they might feel – to get to what you really want.

Manifesting is about embracing your authenticity and living your bigger life.

I am hopeful that this thinking is passing, that people are getting it. BUT it was so rampant when I first started teaching the Law of Attraction and Manifesting that I wanted to be sure I covered it — just in case!

Let’s do one by one:

Manifesting is not about the stuff – although there is nothing wrong about the stuff!

When the Law of Attraction was first discussed years ago, there was an article in a magazine that said something like (and I am paraphrasing): “This is silly. The Universe is not your concierge service.” The intonation of the article was that the Law of Attraction was superficial and people would use it to fulfill their every material whim and desire.

Really what I want to say here, and this might surprise you, is stop judging the stuff, people! In our society, people judge money, judge people who have it and judge people with “stuff”.

If you come away from this post with nothing more than this thought, than I would feel successful: Money is just a tool – that’s it. It has neither positive nor negative energy except that which we place on it.

If you are one of those people who feel money and “stuff” is superficial for others:

  1. You are placing negative energy on it and that energy will always chase the money away.
  2. You won’t allow yourself to dream deeper to explore what you really want. (Read below for more on this thought.)

Does money buy happiness? Of course not! Does stuff make you happy? Of course not again. BUT it does make life easier and some of what you can buy with money is darned fun!

Plus…

You need to embrace your desires – whatever they are no matter how superficial – to get to what you really want.

I cannot even count the number of times a coaching client of mine has felt sheepish and guilty over a desire he/she is harboring because it feels superficial. It’s “stuff”: a bigger house, a vacation, a new car, more money. They won’t even let themselves go there in their thoughts because of the negative attachment they have on it.

Frankly, it isn’t about the exact “stuff” per se, it is the feeling we think the stuff will give us we crave. That feeling taps us into our soul’s longing.

Often our deeper desires are so deep, we can’t really access them directly and the only thing we can reach for is the “stuff”.

When you explore WHY you want the house, or the vacation, or the car, you may uncover a deeper desire of something that is a step toward more authenticity for you.

AND, what if it IS stuff you want? What if what you want is something material? If this is hard for you, I encourage you to look into your heart and explore why that might be. If it would bring you joy, why not?

Manifesting is about embracing your authenticity and living your bigger life.

The more you embrace what you really want, the more authentic you will become. Authenticity refers to being yourself, feeling comfortable in your own skin.

We all have areas of our life that don’t feel right. You might not be able to put your finger on it, but it just feels off, like clothes that aren’t quite the right style or size. The more you embrace your desires and allow yourself to look at them and bring them into your life, the more comfortable you will be with yourself and the more you will like yourself.

I often think about the moment I knew I wanted to marry my husband. I realized that I liked him, but more importantly, I liked who I was when I was with him! That’s what will happen as you step more and more into your authentic life. You will LOVE who YOU are!
